I love it too! But okay, I know in the movie they do have an affair, and at the end she realizes she loved Louis even more. Does Axel at all love her, or just wanted to seduce her. Cause clearly in some of the trailers he just seems like he just wanted to seduce her.

I did. I also read the bio from Antonia Frasier. It just says that while he could have been her love of her life, she originally did love her husband. But my question is, how is he portrayed in the movie?
My feeling was that she loved him but cared very much her husband. She and Louis cared so much for each other and shared a life but her passion was with Axel.
Like Lilou said, Marie loved Axel and he was a great man. I've read several books [About every book out there on Marie] and they all say that Marie didn't really love-love her husband. More so she respected him, and cared for him. Not so much love.
We have to remember lovies that we can't know how she really felt, but the movie expressed that she felt she was in love with him, but we soon discover that she just used him as a diversion and is bored with him gone.
